February 13, 1966 – December 8, 2019

Sean Campbell Simpson, 53, passed away unexpectedly due to heart complications at home on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019. Sean was born Feb. 13, 1966 in Moses Lake, Washington. Sean grew up with his four brothers and sisters on Lee Street where his childhood was spent playing kick-the-can and basketball in the street. Many lifelong friendships for the entire family were developed in that neighborhood. Growing up, Sean played little league baseball on a team coached by his dad, started for varsity football as a sophomore and was even a state champion bowler. He loved skating, water skiing and boating on Moses Lake. Whether it was sneaking out of his bedroom window or getting a garage tattoo with Brett Palmerton, his mother Ila describes Sean as her “wild child with a heart of gold.”

Sean attended Moses Lake High School and then went on to continue his education at Big Bend Community College. He married his best friend Debbie in 1989. After school, he and Debbie grew their family by welcoming their son, Skyler, and five years later, their daughter Kyleigh. Through the years, they made many wonderful memories taking family trips and bringing along their nieces Raven and Malea, camping (when Debbie could get Sean to go) and supporting their children in their hobbies and endeavors. Sean spent several years working for Horizon Aire, which allowed for many memorable travels. In 1995, Sean was hired by Grant County Public Works where he worked as a supervisor for road designs and projects alongside his best friend, Nino. Sean and Debbie built their home in Cascade Valley in 1996. Sean truly believed there was “no place like home” and loved spending time working on home projects and tinkering. Sean loved classic rock, photography, and his drone. Sean was an amazing father, son, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend. Debbie describes Sean as her “Lovebug,” her soulmate, love of her life, and the rock of the family. His granddaughters will never forget their “Pow Pow” and although the void left behind is large, our family’s tears will not mask the smiles he provided when he was with us.

Sean is survived by his mother Ila Simpson; his wife Debbie Simpson (Hart); his son Skyler Simpson (Kayleen DeCouteau) and daughter Kyleigh Bakes (Tyler); his siblings Tim (Denise Bower), Patti (Bruce Stanley) and Tye (Annette Moberg); grandchildren Paizlee and Charlee; many adored nieces, a nephew, cousins, extended family and four-legged friends. He is preceded in death by his father Joe Simpson and sister Barbara Simpson.

“A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best” — Unknown author
