Moses Lake man gets over a year in prison for statutory rape
MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man will spend just over a year in prison after pleading guilty to statutory rape of a minor in connection with an incident from 2017.
Jarrod Austin Record, 24, pleaded guilty to third degree rape of a child, receiving a sentence of 12 months and one day in state prison. He will also have to serve 36 months in community custody and undergo a psychosexual evaluation.
Record reportedly had a consensual sexual encounter with a teenage juvenile in October 2017, a continuation of an earlier sexual relationship. During that incident, Record picked up the juvenile female from her high school before bringing her to his apartment. A protection order had been previously put in place against Record to prevent the two from having contact.
Record’s previous criminal history consisted solely of prior convictions for third-degree driving while license suspended.
