| December 4, 2019 10:18 AM

Mark Jeffrey Maslen, 46, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 23, 2019 after a 16-month battle with cancer. Mark was the youngest child, born to Marvin and Mary Maslen in Moses Lake in March 1973.

Mark grew up and attended school in Moses Lake, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1992. Mark joined Grant County Fire District No. 5 his senior year and became a resident at Station 1 after graduation and later a resident at Station 8. Mark was a volunteer and hired as a part-time paid employee with GCFD 5 for over 10 years. Mark would travel with GCFD 5 around the state to fight wildland fires and he loved being part of the fire department. Mark was also a volunteer with Grant County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue for over 10 years, where he did technical rope rescue and was a Dive Rescue certified scuba diver.

Mark married the love of his life, Keilani Weir, in June 2002. For the past 18 years they made their home in Spokane Valley, Washington. Mark went to work for A to Z Rentals and later for Garda World Armored Truck Transport, where he worked for over 10 years.

In 2006 Mark started an online store called Black Ops Tactical. He was successful in selling tactical gear, clothing, flashlights, boots, gloves, backpacks and so much more. His dream was to open his own store and be his own boss. After lots of hard work and planning, in November 2017 Mark’s dream became a reality and he opened 3 Ops Tactical in Post Falls, Idaho. The business was well received and on its way to becoming very successful; he had an ever growing clientele.

Mark enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping, snow skiing, kayaking, scuba diving, cookouts, listening to music, watching movies and spending time with friends and family. Mark enjoyed helping his community and giving back through his volunteer activities.

Mark is survived by his loving wife Keilani Maslen, his loving parents Marvin and Mary Maslen, his sister Marcy Maslen, uncle Charles Moyer and wife Linda Moyer, aunt Lauris Brychell and several cousins, father-in-law Gary Weir and wife Lisa and brother-in-law Michael Weir and wife Lisa.

Mark was preceded in death by his uncle Robert G. Moyer in August 2019, aunt Faye Maslen, aunt Donna King, uncle Merle King, uncle Joe Brychell, grandparents Wesley Maslen and Kelly Maslen, Otis Moyer and Helen Moyer.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Mountain Lakes Bible Church, 2215 N. Seventh, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, we request a tax-free donation be made to the American Cancer Society in Mark’s memory.
