Basin roundup: Odessa football returns to 1B championship game

Odessa 84, Entiat 20

MOSES LAKE — The Odessa juggernaut rolled into the 1B State championship game after defeating Entiat 84-20.

Odessa led 84-0 at one point, led by Marcus King’s five touchdowns. King carried the ball only nine times for 187 yards. Josh Clark also scored three rushing touchdowns for the Tigers.

Odessa will defend its 1B championship against No. 2 seed Naselle Saturday, noon, at Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.

Naselle 70, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 44

TUMWATER — Almira/Coulee-Hartline was unable to slow Naselle’s rushing attack and fell in the 1B State semifinals 70-44.

State runner-up last season, ACH led 30-24 in the second quarter before going scoreless on five consecutive possessions. The Warriors were outscored 38-14 after halftime.

Fa’aoso Tutu’u was the bell cow for Naselle, scoring four second-half touchdowns. Tutu’u had touchdown carries of 56, 23, 51 and 36 yards.

Brayton Schafer had two touchdown receptions and returned an interception for a score. Dane Isaak scored three rushing touchdowns.

Big Bend men struggle at Skagit

MOUNT VERNON — Big Bend struggled on the road at the Skagit Valley College Turkey Tourney with three losses.

Big Bend lost its first game Friday to Grays Harbor 78-55. The Runnin’ Vikes led by five points at halftime, but were outscored 53-25 in the second half. Landon Harrington led the team with 16 points.

Big Bend fell to host Skagit Valley 101-77. Jack McClary scored 26 points off the bench and Jahvontae’ Jones added 16.

In the team’s tournament finale, Big Bend lost to Green River 78-70. The Runnin’ Vikes travel to face Gonzaga Club in Spokane on Friday.
