Port of Mattawa executive director gets raise

MATTAWA — Port of Mattawa Executive Director Lars Leland received a raise in salary during a regular meeting of the board of commissioners on Monday, Aug. 12.

During the July meeting, Leland gave a presentation about port district salaries around the area.

“We were convinced that you need more,” said Commissioner Jim Wise. “Your evaluation came back excellent. You exceeded expectations on most of them. The raise is very justified based on port and city salaries that are not in positions of authority. We don’t want to lose you.”

Leland will receive a two-step wage increase to $58,000 a year, retroactive to July 20. Commissioner Glenn Leland refrained from voting due to a conflict of interest.
