Man who allegedly fled scene of motorcycle crash turns himself in
Passenger was seriously injured in the crash
MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man who allegedly fled the scene of a serious early morning motorcycle crash in Moses Lake is in custody after he turned himself in.
Moses Lake police responded to the report of the motorcycle crash, which occurred on East Broadway Avenue, about 1 a.m. Witnesses say two motorcycles were riding together when one of them lost control. A 47-year-old female passenger on the out of control motorcycle was thrown off and fell to the ground. She was ultimately airlifted to a Spokane-area hospital for treatment of serious head and body injuries.
The driver of the motorcycle, later identified as 46-year-old Moses Lake resident Mark. A Janke, fled the scene before police arrived. Officers developed information that indicated Janke was the driver of the motorcycle and responded to his residence, where they reportedly found the motorcycle.
The MLPD put a post on their Facebook page about the incident Friday morning, and Janke ultimately turned himself in a few hours later. He is now in custody for investigation of felony hit-and-run and vehicular assault.
