Port of Mattawa seeks to partner with Grant Integrated

MATTAWA — The Port of Mattawa is looking to partner with Grant Integrated Services to help them get a bigger facility in Mattawa.

“We’ve outgrown our current space,” said Gail Goodwin of Grant Integrated Services, during a Port of Mattawa commissioners meeting on Monday, April 8. “If we are in a bigger space, we can offer more services.”

Currently, Grant Integrated Services in Mattawa only offers mental health services and substance use disorder or chemical dependency treatment. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Goodwin told the Port commissioners that they have not been able to find any other space in Mattawa for them the move. When a new building can be secured, Grant Integrated would be able to be open more hours and additional services, such as employment services.

Grant Integrated is looking at various options, including renting or purchasing from the Port of Mattawa.

“It is a great service you provide,” said Port of Mattawa Commissioner Jim Wise.

Port of Mattawa Director Lars Leland will present the commissioners with prices for both selling property and building a building to rent to Grant Integrated Services at the next meeting.

Leland reported that after the commissioners meeting he was signing closing paperwork on a piece of property just south of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Highway 243.

“I think this will be a good piece (of property) of the Port,” said Leland.

The property, which is 3.5 acres, cost the Port approximately $125,000 to acquire. The Port would like to use the land for building a new gas station.
