MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Museum & Art Center officials have extended the deadline for submissions to the upcoming update of one of the museum's most popular exhibits. The new deadline for “Reheated: Baked, Mashed or Fried” is Oct. 6. The museum is located at 401 S. Balsam St.

The show is a reboot of the museum’s old annual art show, and like those shows, all artworks must depict potatoes. The opening reception is scheduled for Oct. 12.

All artworks listed for sale will be eligible for the “Golden Potato Award,” a $500 purchase award sponsored by the Washington State Potato Commission.

Original artworks will be accepted – or artists can “recreate famous artworks in a spud theme,” according to a press release from the museum. The entry fee is $20 for two entries. Submissions must include an entry form and must be delivered to the museum by Oct. 6.

The original “Baked, Mashed or Fried” was on display for years. “It ran for close to a decade. Possibly longer,” said museum director Freya Liggett. Some of the original works, among them a dancing potato sculpture, are still in the museum’s collection.

People who want more information on submission criteria or the exhibit can contact the museum, 509-764-3826. The show is part of the museum’s commemoration of its 60th anniversary. The show will be on display through Nov. 9.
