MOSES LAKE — Kendall Sharp scored twice, the second a go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute, and West Valley edged Moses Lake 3-2.

After a scoreless 20 minutes to start the first half, Moses Lake (0-1, 2-2) freshman Natalie Bunch was able to gather a deflected cross from Morgan Skone and score in the 25th minute.

However, the lead was short-lived as the Rams answered with a pair of goals to end the half. Sharp poked a shot under the outstretched arms of Moses Lake goalie Abbigail Rosenow for the first of her two goals in the 31st minute. Sharp’s teammate Izzy Roberts followed in the 36th minute.

Moses Lake rallied in the second half behind the effort of Emily Mendoza.

Mendoza chased down a ball played down the left sideline, passing back into the middle of the field. The ball caromed around teammates Denali Knowles and Madi Krogh before finally settling back on Mendoza’s right foot.

“Right before that we recognized that Emily was making those runs on the far side and she was one-v-one so Denali did it the very next play and we were successful on it,” head coach Ric Char said. “It was a good momentum shift for us. We had them for a little bit, just not enough, I think.”

Sharp seized the momentum back in the 73rd minute.

The Chiefs made one more push, but missed on a corner kick and free kick over the course of the final five minutes.
