Emil Sackmann

April 18, 1922 – September 1, 2018

Emil Sackmann was born on April 18, 1922, on the family farm in Lind, Wash., the 17th child born to Gottlieb and Lydia Sackmann. He spent his life working on the wheat farm, playing baseball with his brothers and riding his white horse and raising cattle. He married his beautiful wife Janet on May Day, 1955, who joined him on the farm where they raised their two children and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. He served as Adams County Fire Commissioner for 20 years and enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving on the board of the Lind Congregational Church.

Emil passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2018, at the age of 96.

Emil is survived by his wife Janet (Jeske); son Lynn (Becky) Sackmann of Lind; daughter Margie (Doug) Beschta of Spokane Valley; grandchildren Casey Sackmann, Rylie Sackmann, Mallory Beschta, Grant (Becca) Beschta, Danica Beschta, and Justine Beschta and numerous nieces and nephews. Emil was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers William, Martin, Alfred, Albert, Godfrey, and Reinhold and 11 sisters Lydia Fode Floether, Mary Fode Wilhelm, Emma Heider, infant baby Rebecca, Rebecca Krug, Ella Biggar Miller, Elsie Overvold, Bertha Borth, Martha Wahl, Hilda Ruff and Margaret Jeske.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018,at Ritzville ZP United Church of Christ, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date. Remembrances may be given to Lind Senior Center, or Assured Hospice of Moses Lake. To leave condolences please visit our website at www.danekasfh.com.
