CONNELL — Warden scored seven unanswered goals to upend South Central Athletic Conference East foe Connell 7-1.

Joy Thompson put the Eagles ahead in the sixth minute.

It didn’t last long.

Aaliyah Escamilla evened the game two minutes later on a quick through ball from Aubree Skone. Skone scored the first of her three goals in the 12th minute to give the Cougars the lead for good.

“It was a physical game, and it forced the girls to play more aggressive to keep possession of the ball,” head coach Hannah Mohs said. “Connell scored first, which woke the girls up. It was awesome to see my girls play multiple positions and work for each other off the ball.”

Warden’s first-half barrage continued with two goals from Grace Richins, one from Bailey Whitney and another from Skone. Skone completed her hat trick in the 69th minute, assisted by Arely Rangel.

Warden hosts 2A Othello Saturday, 11 a.m., on the football field.
