1 injured in Ephrata shooting Thursday evening

EPHRATA — A shooting occurred Thursday evening in Ephrata that left one person hospitalized, according to the Ephrata Police Department.

EPD received a report of shots fired in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Basin Street Southwest between 6 and 6:30 p.m., according to Public Information Officer Wes Crago. Deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and officers from Soap Lake Police as well as the State Department of Transportation and Ephrata Public Works crews responded to this incident, Crago said inn a press release. One gunshot victim was reportedly transported to Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata and was in stable condition.

The shooting resulted in the closure of Basin Street Southwest between SR-282 and 11th Street Southwest. An investigation was underway Thursday evening but no suspects were in custody, according to police.
