Man found in irrigation canal near Othello identified

OTHELLO — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has identified the person who was found dead in an irrigation canal near Othello last month.

The man, whose body was found in an irrigation canal in the area of state Route 26, west of state Route 17 near Othello, on Aug. 16, has been identified as Marcello Pedro Chaj Alvarez. The sheriff’s office did not specify Alvarez’ age and city of residence.

The results for Alvarez’ cause of death are pending the outcome of toxicology tests and further investigation by the ACSO.
