ML firefighters seeking help to spread Christmas cheer

| October 30, 2018 3:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — Firefighters in Moses Lake have teamed up with a non-profit organization and are asking for public help in their endeavor to sponsor families this holiday season.

Moses Lake firefighters are partnering with the Spokane-based Firefighters for Kids Foundation to collect toys for children in need in Moses Lake. Organizers are asking for new/unused toys to be dropped off in the donation barrel Moses Lake Fire Station No. 1, 701 E. Third Ave. Organizers have an overall goal of sponsoring 30 families.

Firefighters for Kids started out as a small operation at a volunteer fire house in Morgan Acres, which is a small community in Spokane. Firefighters started out by visiting children’s hospitals and giving out stickers and coloring books and showing fire equipment, according to the foundation’s website. The scope of the operation has grown over the years and the sponsoring of families for the holidays started in 2017.

To make a donation to the cause visit the Moses Lake Firefighters Facebook page at www.facebook.com/moseslake.firefighters or www.ffs4kids.org/donate.
