Prep roundup: Ephrata, Othello lose in CWAC semis

ELLENSBURG — Ephrata let a 2-0 lead evaporate in its district semifinal loss to Ellensburg 3-2.

Courtney Richardson headed in the ball just before halftime and the Tigers scored again two minutes into the second half. However, Ellensburg freshman Dylan Phillip cut into the lead with a second-half goal and a penalty kick near the end of regulation forced overtime.

After two overtime periods went scoreless, the match moved to a shootout where Ellensburg was able to win 5-3.

In the other district semifinal, Othello lost to undefeated Selah 6-0. Bailey Thompson recorded a hat trick for the Vikings.
