Prep roundup: Warden girls soccer finishes regular season unbeaten

MATTAWA — Aubree Skone scored twice and Warden girls soccer beat Wahluke 4-1 to finish the regular season undefeated.

“The girls are definitely on a high,” head coach Hannah Mohs said.

Wahluke, newly in second place, was energized for the finale, but fell behind 3-0 in the first half.

Bailey Whitney opened the scoring before Skone added two more goals in two minutes. In the 33rd, Skone finished a through ball from Ashlyn Yamane. Next, Skone stole the ball and maneuvered through Wahluke’s defense for another goal in the 34th minute.

Aaliyah Escamilla added one more goal in the 44th minute on a ricocheted ball from Yamane.

Warden is the No. 1 seed in the South Central Athletic Conference East and will host Naches Valley in the first round of its district tournament on Saturday at 11 a.m. Wahluke is the No. 2 seed and will face third-seeded Highland out of the SCAC West on Saturday; the time is still to be determined.

Ephrata 6, Quincy 0

EPHRATA — Ephrata won its first-round district playoff game against rival Quincy 6-0.

Mya Spencer was all over the field for the Tigers, notching four goals and two assists.

“I think she was in good position making the right runs,” head coach Hillary Coomes said.

Spencer scored twice within the first 10 minutes off assists from Courtney Richardson and Lynette Sanchez.

Julia Davis and McCall DeChenne scored off assists from Spencer early in the second half.

Spencer scored twice more in the 51st and 75th minute.

Ephrata travels to Ellensburg for the district semifinals Thursday at 4 p.m.

Othello 2, Grandview 1 (SO)

OTHELLO — Othello extended its season with a district playoff win over Grandview 2-1 in a shootout.

Hailee Guzman scored in the first minute and the Huskies only missed once in the shootout.

Othello will play at undefeated Selah in the district semifinals Thursday at 5 p.m.

COULEE CITY — Ashley Mitchell notched seven kills and Almira/Coulee-Hartline swept league opponent Odessa 25-12, 25-16, 25-13.

Christa Christopherson added three aces.
