MOSES LAKE — The Peninsula Elementary student council is looking for donations of animal food and supplies for the Grant County Animal Outreach at a special event from noon to 4 p.m. at the school. Peninsula Elementary is located at 2406 W. Texas St.

Saturday’s event also will have some dogs and cats available for adoption, courtesy of Grant County Animal Outreach.

The student council was looking for a project to help the community, said advisor Mark Radocaj, and had settled on an effort to help the GCAO. Originally the project was scheduled for the last school year, but it was pushed to the new school year.

The students will be collecting puppy food, both bagged and canned; small adult breed dog food, dog and cat treats, and animal litter. Of course, a dog can be a bad dog, and a cat can make a mess. So the kids also are looking for donations of cleaning supplies, including laundry soap and dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, paper towels and sanitary wipes. The animal shelter also needs office supplies, including copy paper, pens, markers and sheet protectors.
