Brewer has kept PUD rates fair for everyone

As I follow this campaign for the Grant County PUD (GCPUD) Commissioners, I am more convinced than ever it is important to keep someone with Terry Brewer’s knowledge, experience, commitment and passion on the GCPUD Commission. His service to the people in Grant County as Executive Director of the Grant County Economic Development Council and as GCPUD Commissioner has created a stable and strong economy for the people in Grant County.

Terry has brought industry and jobs to diversify our economy and still complement our agricultural base. His efforts helped grow Grant County’s 10 Port Districts, within the confines of Washington state’s Growth Management Act. In past years we produced more power than we used, so we were able to sell our power at a premium on the open market. The revenue from the sale of power kept our rates low. That market has declined so it’s actually been a benefit and good timing that the large industrial companies moved to our area when they did. We are using our production now due to growth in Grant County — business, agriculture and population/residential growth.

As our PUD Commissioner Terry Brewer has worked to keep our residential rates low at 5.64 cents per kilowatt-hour (the Washington state average is 9.70 cents per kWh, and the national average is 13.15 cents per kWh) while working to maintain balance and fairness to agriculture and business/industrial users. These are impressive numbers in my opinion.
