Prep roundup: Warden breaks through Royal defense, wins 1-0
WARDEN — Offense didn’t come easy, it never does against Royal, but Warden did enough to win 1-0.
The game’s lone score came in the 58th minute when Bailey Whitney finished a through ball from Melanie Cazares.
“The entire first half it was boot ball,” Warden head coach Hannah Mohs said. “They worked really hard at winning balls out of the air.”
Royal packs bodies in defensively, so the typical high-scoring Cougars had to make the most of their chances. Whitney did her best to cut her defender, locate the pass from Cazares and fire a shot over the keeper’s head.
Moses Lake 7, Eisenhower 0
MOSES LAKE — Morgan Skone tallied four goals and Moses Lake routed Eisenhower 7-0.
Claire Hopkins, Gabi Avalos and Shaylee Miacolo scored once each for the Chiefs.
