Kavanaugh proceedings show the need for Republicans to stand together

| October 11, 2018 3:00 AM

After watching the proceedings against Judge Kavanaugh I am convinced that the Republicans need to circle the wagons to protect and insure that Matt Manweller’s seat remains in Republican hands. Manweller has said that he will step down if elected, and his seat will be filled by a Republican selected by county commissioners.

If the shoe were on the other foot, if a Democrat were in a criminal or civil trial and the fact finder ruled against him on evidence similar to that presented against Judge Kavanaugh, with similar nature and timing of the evidence, that Democrat would be livid – as livid as the demonstrators at the hearing before the Senate. The final vote was continually interrupted by screaming protesters, not because Kavanaugh was convicted on insufficient evidence but because he was not convicted on insufficient evidence.

Judge Kavanaugh was exceptionally qualified. Why was there so much Democrat opposition in the hearing by senators and protesters? Is it that he might restrict abortions? Even if you believe that it is a constitutional right to have an abortion, and that it is a woman’s decision and the government should stay out of it, there still should be some lingering doubts because of our belief in the sanctity of human life. Yet the opposition was full throttle. Even more incongruous is this: If Judge Kavanaugh was an aggressive sexual predator as the Democrat’s senators urged, would he be against abortion? With that type of moral depravity, would he not simply acquiesce and accept the present state of the law?

Have any Democrat leaders criticized the riotous behavior of their ever-present activists? Just the opposite, they seem to encourage such behavior.
