Prep roundup: Moses Lake girls soccer earns crucial win at West Valley
YAKIMA — Moses Lake girls soccer reentered its name in the Columbia Basin Big Nine race with a 1-0 win at West Valley.
Freshman Kaydence Martinez put in the lone score in the 53rd minute; Morgan Skone assisted on the play.
“It was a big win for us to stay in that hunt for the high seeding,” head coach Ric Char said.
West Valley had a chance at the equalizer in the 60th minute, but missed a penalty kick opportunity.
Moses Lake (5-2, 8-3) sits in third place with games against Wenatchee (7-1) and Eastmont (6-2) left on the schedule.
Moses Lake hosts Eisenhower Thursday at 7 p.m.

Moses Lake girls win Bridgeport Invite
BRIDGEPORT — Moses Lake girls cross country put five runners in the top 10 to easily win the Bridgeport Invite with 19 points.
Cascade of Leavenworth was a distant second at 50 points.
Camille Carpenter won the race in 19:59.37. Carlie Gregg (third), Melanie Flores (fifth), Mikayla Cooper (eighth) and Rosary Rodriguez (ninth) helped the Chiefs take home team honors.
In the boys’ competition, Moses Lake (45) was edged by first-place Cascade (39). Landon Davies paced the Kodiaks, finishing first in 16:24.80.
Joshua Cooper took third place in 16 minutes, 34.48 seconds. Brandon Wood (seventh) and Nicholas Elliot (eighth) rounded out Chiefs in the top 10.
