Hammond is right for 13th District

| October 4, 2018 3:00 AM

Research has shown that we vote for the candidates most like ourselves.

We, in the 13th Legislative District, need a representative who doesn’t abuse his/her power, one who is open to inquiry and morally strong.

Sylvia Hammond listens. She’s a proponent of safe environments, funding education, livable wages and extending voter registration. Her opponent voted against extending automatic voter registration, and voted against increasing minimum wage.

I contacted Sylvia with a question about gun control. She responded within 24 hours, voicing her support for the Second Amendment and improved access to rural and mental healthcare.

Sylvia promotes wise management of our indispensable natural resources. She advocates for reducing property taxes for working families, not just corporations.

Sylvia Hammond is prepared to reach across the aisle to solve problems.

For some voters, it won’t matter that Matt Manweller struggles with a long pattern of sexually-inappropriate conduct. Instead of taking responsibility for predatory behaviors, he dismisses accounts from his young, female victims, wastes taxpayers’ money with a lawsuit against the university that fired him with cause and tries to convince constituents that he’s the target of a witch hunt.

A vote for Dr. Manweller is a vote for a man whose own party has asked him to resign.

Vote for honest leadership, the candidate whose family and political values reflect those of Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Vote for Sylvia Hammond.
