Prep roundup: Moses Lake volleyball sweeps Sunnyside
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake held off a scrappy Sunnyside team in three sets 25-18, 27-25, 25-22.
Yasmin Shateri led the Chiefs with 11 kills and two blocks.
After a comfortable first-set win, the Chiefs trailed 25-24 in the second. Gabi Rios recorded a kill to tie and two more errors from the Grizzlies allowed the Chiefs to take a 2-0 lead.
Sunnyside wouldn’t back down and opened up a 5-1 advantage to start the third set. Moses Lake rallied with a 6-0 run to take a 9-7 lead.
The lead traded hands for most of the third set before Rios scored match point with another kill.
Renee Ohs and Ashlyn Haneberg added five kills each.
Quincy 3, Wapato 1
WAPATO — Quincy beat Wapato in four sets 25-14, 25-27, 25-15, 25-19 to improve to 3-1 in league play.
Morgan Kleyn totaled 12 kills and McKenzie Kleyn was 29-of-30 serving with six aces.
Connell 3, Warden 0
WARDEN — Warden fell to 0-7 in league play after being swept by Connell 25-13, 25-15, 25-13.
Jaryn Madsen had four digs and one ace; Kayla Golladay notched two kills and two blocks.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Harrington 0
COULEE CITY — Ashley Mitchell had nine kills and Almira/Coulee-Hartline handled Harrington 25-11, 25-6, 25-8.
Mitchell added five digs to her stat line. Christa Christopherson ran the offense, totaling 24 assists to go with eight aces.

EAST WENATCHEE — Jayden Brown scored the difference-maker in the 47th minute and Moses Lake fell to first-place Eastmont 3-2.
Both teams went into halftime tied 2-2.
College Place 1, Royal 0 (SO)
ROYAL CITY — College Place overcame the elements to outlast Royal in a shootout 1-0.
“It was so windy during the shootout that the ball had a hard time staying on the spot,” head coach Jens Jensen said. “We had one kicker who had to reset the ball at least seven times before she was finally able to shoot.”
College Place was able to convert three attempts to Royal’s two for the win.
