13-year-old allegedly leads police on high-speed chase – twice

QUINCY — A 13-year-old boy is facing charges after he reportedly led police on two high-speed chases before he crashed the vehicle he was driving Monday night.

About 10:40 p.m. a Quincy officer attempted to pull over a vehicle that had blown through several stop signs in Quincy. The 13-year-old driver of the vehicle fled at speeds between 90 and 100 mph toward George. With a high risk of danger to the public the Quincy Police Department opted to stop pursing the vehicle about 10 minutes later, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

About 10:50 p.m. a deputy located a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle in the Quincy incident. The vehicle was on Beverly Burke Road approaching state Route 26 when the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver continued south on Beverly Burke Road and hit speeds in excess of 90 mph. The driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp turn and the vehicle left the road.

The vehicle was occupied by five people, three of whom were treated for minor injuries. Two of the injured occupants, including the driver, were transported to the hospital for treatment. After the driver was released from the hospital he was arrested on two counts of attempting to elude a police officer.
