MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Police Department was able to purchase a new demonstration vehicle that will be used to educate on the effects of impaired/distracted driving thanks to grants received from State Farm.

The grants from State Farm total $15,000 and will be used to promote safe driving. The MLPD recently purchased a SIDNE (Simulated Impaired Driving Experience) vehicle, which is used in demonstrations throughout both Grant and Adams Counties and gives drivers the opportunity to see first-hand the effects of impaired/distracted driving.

The new SIDNE car will replace the one the MLPD had been using for several years around the Basin to educated thousands of people. The MLPD says with the new SIDNE car they are hoping to bring an important lesson to the youth of the Columbia Basin.

“MLPD would also like to give a special thanks to Kim Janke (at) State Farm for facilitating the grant, and supporting our efforts to keep the roads safer,” states the department.
