Manta Rays second overall at home Thankswimming Meet

MOSES LAKE — Manta Ray Aquatics hosted their annual Thankswimming Meet over the weekend.

Seven teams traveled to Moses Lake from Oregon and Washington to compete at the Tony St. Onge Pool of Dreams in a variety of short course swimming events. The Manta Rays finished in second place overall, with all swimmers cutting time in one or more of their events.

Anderson Addink cut over three seconds in his 50 breaststroke to finish in third place. Cutting an incredible minute from her 500 freestyle, Eliza Bowen went on to finish in fourth place in that event. Annika Burke had a 13-second time drop in her 200 backstroke. Her brother, Oliver cut ten seconds from his 100 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

Sydnee Campos followed with a 16-second drop in her 200 freestyle. Dallie Cobb finished in fifth place in her 50 freestyle. Taytum Courtright cut over four seconds in her 100 freestyle to finish in eighth place.

Aline Davis improved her 200 freestyle time by over nine seconds and her 100 fly time by over 15 seconds. Her sister, Rebekah, improved upon her 200 breaststroke by over seven seconds. Kathryn Duvall slashed 30 seconds from her 500 freestyle time, to finish in sixth place.

Sofia Estudillo dropped an amazing 47 seconds off her 200 freestyle and 36 seconds off her 200 individual medley. McKinley Fulk finished in third place in her 500 freestyle and first place in the mile. Julia Heaps cut over 10 seconds in her 100 backstroke and went on to win the 50 freestyle, tying her teammate Melody Lake for the win. Melody also went on to finish in second place in both the 100 individual medley and 50 breaststroke.

Noah Heaps won the 200 backstroke and finished in second place in the 50 freestyle, breaking 23 seconds for the first time. Brett Jorgenson cut over 10 seconds from his 200 individual medley to take fourth place and also finished in second place in his 100 breaststroke. Laurel Knox finished in fourth place in the 100 freestyle.

Lennox Leeder, 8, won high point for his age group after finishing in first place in the 25 butterfly, 25 breaststroke, 25 backstroke and 100 backstroke. He also set a new team record in the 100 backstroke for 8 and under boys.

Cole Lindberg took second place in the 100 butterfly. Iver Miner cut three seconds in his 100 individual medley to take fifth place. Dylan Moore dropped time in all of his events, cutting a whopping 28 seconds in his 500 freestyle. His brother, Nicholas, took fourth place after dropping over a minute in his 1650 freestyle.

Damien Paluch cut time in all of his events, with an amazing 34-second drop in his 200 freestyle, 11-second cut in his 100 backstroke, and a 20 second drop in his 100 fly. Issabelle Parrish cut over 30 seconds from her 200 freestyle. Her sister Makhaela dropped an incredible 42 seconds off her 500 freestyle, to finish in fourth place.

Alexis Preston cut over four seconds from her 100 backstroke and six seconds from her 100 freestyle. Her sister Kora slashed 12 seconds off her 200 individual medley Marcus Quezada cut nine seconds from his 200 freestyle and finished in fifth place in his 50 butterfly. Britni Reed cut over eight seconds from her 100 backstroke and finished in sixth place in the 50 freestyle. Brittney Richeson took first place in the 500 freestyle.

Cody Tate cut 11 seconds in his 200 freestyle and seven seconds from his 200 individual medley. Kyla Tate, Cody’s sister, finished in fourth place in the 100 butterfly after dropping four seconds. Kendall Vance cut 16 seconds in his 200 freestyle and finished in second place in the 100 individual medley and 50 freestyle. She also cut over 16 seconds from her 200 individual medley to take second place. Jessica Williams finished in second place in the 100 breaststroke and first place in the 200 breaststroke. Zachary Washburn took first place in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
