MOSES LAKE — The crowd counted it down and the lights came on, and it’s officially the holiday season in downtown Moses Lake. The Christmas tree in Sinkiuse Square and holiday lights on the surrounding streets came on for the first time in 2018 on Saturday night.

Some downtown businesses were open for the evening as well. The children’s choir, Voices of a New Day, performed prior to the tree lighting, followed by some of the troupe from the Dance FX studio. Dancing on a chilly night takes some discipline, especially when the music stops, as it did for a solo artist – but she kept dancing to the end.

The tree lighting was the first event of the holiday season, but not the last. The annual Ag Appreciation parade is scheduled for Nov. 30 through downtown, featuring all kinds of farm equipment. Pictures with Santa are scheduled at the Moses Lake Museum & Art Center Nov. 16, and Dec. 1 and 8.
