| May 30, 2018 3:00 AM

October 29, 1928 – May 26, 2018

Mary Nelson, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Mary was born to Harry and Mabel Driscoll in Spokane, Wash. Oct. 29, 1928. She was preceded in birth by her two brothers Robert (Bob) and Richard (Dick) Driscoll. She was raised in Moscow, Idaho where she met her future husband Dale Nelson. She graduated from Moscow High School and went on to receive her BA in music from the University of Idaho.

Mary and Dale were married in 1950 and moved to Moses Lake in 1951, where they had three children. She was a devoted mother who loved to sing and play the piano. She spent many years teaching piano and leading the church choir at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Mary also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of PEO and several bridge groups.

Mary enjoyed the company of countless friends and caring staff while living for many years at Hearthstone Assisted Living Facility, and more recently at Columbia Crest. Many were drawn to her through her quick Irish wit that at times could sting like a bee or make the most difficult situation seem to melt away with a quick one-liner and a hearty laugh. She lived with much gratitude for friends and family, and for countless staff who gave her such loving care. She will be remembered most for her sense of humor, her tenacity and her ability to always look on the bright side of life.

Mary is survived by her children Judy (Al) Sackmann, Nancy (Dan) Schmitt and Tim (Kathy) Nelson; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake on Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m, preceded with the Rosary at 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserchapel.com.
