The Knights golf teams turned in a solid performance on the links last week and are is sending four boys and two girls to the district tournament this week.

Boys

DESERT AIRE — The conditions were less than ideal for the sub-district tournament but nonetheless the Knights still managed to qualify four golfers for district play. Caleb Christensen shot 97, Chase Janett carded a 98, Hunter Booth shot 103, and Jacob Joslin finished with a 104. All four moved will be included in the field of golfers teeing it up Thursday at Prospector Golf Course up at Suncadia.

“The boys were hit with just about every weather related challenge possible during their matches at Desert Aire. Most of them had a rough time getting started due to the 20 mph wind blowing right into their faces, but things settled down and they were able to hold on and hand in scores well enough to advance,” Royal coach Pete Christensen said. “Prospector will present a big challenge. It has just about every imaginable challenge for the kids to maneuver through.”

Girls

WARDEN — Kaylee Janett shot 105, which earned her the No.4 finisher on the course at Sage Hills in Warden, and Katelynn Ross who recorded her best round of the year (132), are the two Royal girls that qualified for the district tournament.

“Katelynn is very excited to be included in the district tournament. I am hoping to get at least one of the girls through to the state tournament,” Christensen said. “The Top 13 boys and Top 16 girls will advance. It will be an exciting day.”
