August 14, 1936 – May 10, 2018

Roy Deloss Bland, 81, of Moses Lake, Wash. died May 10, 2018 in Enumclaw, Wash. He was born Aug. 14, 1936 in Medford, Ore. to Rolland Jay Bland and Marjorie (Miller) Bland. Over the years, he had a variety of jobs including seven years in the Naval Reserves, beginning in high school, and two years in the US Army in Korea. He was a fireman on Northern Pacific Railroad for ten years, a Smith Brothers milkman for five years, and a route driver for Gai’s bakery for twenty years. His favorite job, though, was driving the school bus in Moses Lake, which he did for eight years. Roy married Susan Bunker in Carmel, Calif. on Oct. 17, 1959. They had three children: Stacy, Sami, and Greg. Along the way they fished, camped, and traveled together. On Friday afternoons Roy spent time catching up with friends on the previous week’s events. He was an officer in the Elks and enjoyed community service. Hunting, fishing and cooking were his passion. He was known for his great sense of humor and all the jokes he would tell that fit every occasion.

Roy is survived by his wife Susan Bland of Enumclaw; daughters Stacy (Sam) Cargill and Sami (Charles) Ritter, both of Enumclaw and son Greg (Jill) Bland of Colorado. His legacy includes grandchildren Brady, Rachel, Andrew, Quincy, Shaylee, Avery, Connor and Lexie, as well as great-grandchildren Maelyn, Makenzie, Easton, and Brody.

Roy will be inurned at Tahoma National Cemetery among his fellow veterans at a later date.
