Prep roundup: Rojas' goal helps Royal capture district championship
ROYAL CITY — Michael Rojas’ second-half goal was the difference as Royal outlasted rival Wahluke 1-0 for the district championship.
In the 56th minute, Rojas gathered a pass near the 40 yard line, zipped through Wahluke’s midfield and back line, and fired a left-footed laser past the goalkeeper.
“Special goal from a special player,” head coach Jens Jensen said.
Royal goalie Ty Miller blanked Wahluke with four saves.
Royal hosts Brewster in the first round of the state tournament Tuesday at 6 p.m. Wahluke also advanced to the state tournament.

Ephrata 16-17, Quincy 0-3
QUINCY — Ephrata took two from regional rival Quincy 16-0, 17-3.
Rylee Peters pitched a complete game, two-hitter in the opener. Peters pitched with the lead right away as the Tigers plated six runs in the top of the first inning.
Jocelyn Eisen pounded four hits and Crystal Vela drove in four runs.
Ephrata jumped on Quincy early again in Game 2, leading 7-0 after one inning. Paige Davis drove in a game-high four runs.
