SELAH — The sixth seeded Huskies hung tough through three and a half innings with the No.1 seeded Vikings on the diamond at Carlon Park Saturday with both teams posting goose eggs on the board. But things came unraveled in the bottom of the fourth when Selah pushed eight runs across the dish.

Othello posted the first run of the game in the top of the frame on a one-out hard it single to left by Jay Rodriguez. Joshua Garza popped up in foul territory near first base for the second out of the inning. Rodriguez advanced to second on a passed ball, but Gage Pruneda went down swinging for the third out and Rodriguez was left stranded in scoring position.

Three walks, two singles, a hit batsman and a passed ball by Jonathan Garza led to four Vikings runs with no outs. Selah added another four on an error by the Huskie shortstop, a single and a double to left field to make it 8-1 in favor of the home team.

Garza lasted three innings on the bump, giving up five runs off one hit. AJ Pruneda came on in relief, was touched for three runs off four hits in three innings of work, and was tagged with the loss.

Othello moved on to Round 3 despite the loss and matched up with Ephrata Tuesday. The results of the contest were unavailable as the game was still in progress at press time. Both teams, however, will move on to the GLUE Crossover bracket. The winner of the Huskies-Tigers game will host Pullman. The loser travels to West Valley. Both games will take place May 12.
