Council honors new Central Washington Eagle Scouts

| May 9, 2018 3:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — Nine new Eagle Scouts from the Grand Columbia Council were honored on Saturday at an annual council dinner in Ellensburg.

Bruce Noonan, president of the Grand Columbia Council, introduced Colin Rise of Mt. Vernon, Christopher Christopherson of Coulee City, Alan Nordine of Electric City, Warren Barnes of East Wenatchee, Nathaniel Mayo of Zillah, Ledger Parrish of Leavenworth, Parker Barduhn of Yakima, Kevin Forrister of Prosser, and Tanner Hebdon of Yakima to business and civic leaders during a dinner and celebration at Rodeo City Bar-B-Q in Ellensburg.

All earned the Eagle badges — Scouting’s highest award — in the past 12 months.

Noonan told the Scouts they have an obligation to get involved in civic and social life to help improve community life, or even when individual lives are threatened.

“Scouts should not sit idly by when situations demand action,” Noonan said. “Inaction would be unacceptable. Do something smart!”

The Grand Columbia Council covers much of Central Washington, from the Oregon state line to the Canadian border, and from the eastern foothills of the Cascades as far east as Ritzville.
