COEUR d’ALENE — The Soroptimist International of Moses Lake was recently recognized by the Northwest Region of Soroptimist International as “Club Champion” for 2017.

The Moses Lake club was named club champion at the Northwest Region Conference at the Coeur d’Alene Resort on April 21. They were recognized for their efforts in fundraising, scholarships and membership in the region, which includes 82 Soroptimist chapters in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska and northern Idaho.

Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization that aims to improve the lives of women and girls around the world. Soroptimist of Moses Lake has been active in several different efforts in the area, such as “Live Your Dream” grants, “Dream It Be It” career support for girls, “Care 4 Kids” backpack program and a recent community event dubbed “Create Your Statement,” which honed in on abuse in teen dating relationships.

Soroptimist of Moses Lake meets on a regular basis and is encouraging the public to attend their dinner party fundraising event on June 16 at the Pillar Rock Grill. For more information about tickets, visit www.moseslakesoroptimist.org.
