Othello Girls Tennis takes fourth straight match

The Huskies (10-1, 4-1) turned back three opponents on the court last week to pick up their 10th win of the season and move into a tie for second with Ephrata in the CWAC standings. The victories keep alive their hopes of repeating as league champion. The team trails Selah by one game with three left to play including a key match up with the Vikings May 3.

Othello’s latest victim was the Ellensburg Bulldogs who they dominated 4-1 in Huskies territory Saturday.

Julissa Cantu set the standard for Othello with a win three-set win (6-4,2-6, 6-3) over Laila Harebur. Ellensburg’s Addie Klucking turned back Amayeli Diaz 0-6, 1-6 in the second singles match, but the Huskies doubles teams took all three matches. First doubles Macy Hampton and Daishawn Roylance rolled past Ashley Higdon and Anna Winter 6-4, 6-4. Second doubles Janiese Alvarez and Alyssa Freeman got past Aubry Higdon and Heather Hickman 7-5, 6-2, and third doubles Jenny Walker and Janae Freeman dispatched Blake Johnson and Amitie Davis 6-4, 6-0. Othello was back on the courts Tuesday for a key match with Ephrata, but the results were unavailable at press time.
