Spring Agribusiness Job Fair set for April 13
MOSES LAKE — Potential employees can meet potential employers at the annual “Spring Agribusiness Job Fair” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13. The job fair will be at the WorkSource Central Basin office, 309 East Fifth Ave., Moses Lake.
This is the third annual spring job fair, said Emily Anderson of WorkSource. About 20 employers are signed up, she said, and more may be added. As the name implies, many of the employers are in agriculture or related businesses. Exhibitors include “food processors, farm equipment suppliers, hay brokers and government agencies,” among others, she said.
Admission is free. Attendees are being asked to register in advance at WorkSourcewa.com. “We will be well-staffed with bilingual staff for this event,” she wrote.
“We have a couple goals, to help connect job seekers and employers who are looking to hire, and to help bring awareness of the various and exciting career opportunities that agribusiness offers,” Anderson wrote.
“All of the employers who are attending this year are currently hiring. Most of them are looking for permanent, full time positions but there may be a few seasonal hires as well. Last year there were a couple employers interviewing and hiring on the spot. I believe they will do the same this year, but processes can vary from year to year.”
WorkSource sponsors a workshop from 9 a.m. to noon each Friday for people who need to write or update a resume.
“We have interview rooms available for employers. We also have computers available for job seekers needing assistance with job applications,” Anderson said.
WorkSource is partnering with other government agencies and organizations. They include Washington Employment Security, SkillSource, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Job Corps, Grant Integrated Services, OIC of Washington, Big Bend Community College and other organizations.
