Reflections on Easter

| March 29, 2018 3:00 AM

Easter has always been a joyous time of year for as long as I can remember. Easter celebration stretches our imagination in many ways. Eggs in many differing colors coming from a bunny is a pretty big stretch. Differentiating between reality and imaginary simplifies as we grow a little older. Understanding the true meaning of Easter is an even greater stretch and may require help of a divine nature. Easter Sunday and Resurrection Sunday coincide with each other. Easter was given as a name to disguise the true meaning of the resurrection of our Lord.

Many attend church on Easter Sunday and generally take part in the communion service. Is communion just a ritual or is it an opportunity? If it is just a ritual we miss out on the importance of this ceremony. This ceremony offers us the opportunity to commune with our Lord, or to communicate, with him. When we shut out our plans for the rest of the day and seek to learn what his plans are for our life we can find his purpose for us. This gift of faith gives us the assurance of the hopes we may have for the future. If we will take time daily to commune with him we find peace in what we are to do today. Receiving the knowledge of his will for us gives us the conviction to carry out his plan and fulfill our needs as well as the needs of those whom we love.

May we all have a blessed day, blessed week and a blessed life in the name of our Lord Jesus. Amen.
