Moses Lake's Loera highlights Basin all-state selections

Moses Lake point guard Jamie Loera capped her high school career with a selection to the Associated Press all-state first team.
“This season I really tried to lead my teams towards success and being able to receive this honor makes me feel like I wa doing my job,” she said. “It was a fun season and it wouldn’t have happened without the help of these girls.”
Loera was joined on the first team by Central Valley’s Lexie Hull, who was also voted player of the year in all classifications, and Lacie Hull. Kylee Griffen of Lake Stevens and Shalyse Smith of Bellarmine Prep also made the first team.
Her second time on the all-state team, Loera was voted honorable mention as a junior. It’s the latest recognition of Loera’s stellar senior season.
She repeated as Columbia Basin Big Nine Player of the Year and made the all-tournament first team.
“Every year I work to better my game,” Loera said. “So I know coming into each season I need to do more for my team. My role changes every yearand I know that I need to continue to work for my team. So I’m very grateful that I received this honor.”
Statistically, Loera averaged 20.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.8 steals per game. Moses Lake finished its regular season 20-0, defended its district championship and finished third at the Class 4A state tournament.
Loera erupted for a school-record 38 points in the regional round of the state tournament against Woodinville and eclipsed 1,000 points in the first game of the season against Southridge.
Loera is committed to play basketball for Arizona State University.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline composed the rest of the local selections. ACH’s Maguire Isaak, Gabi Isaak and Tiffany Boutain were voted all-state first team.
Maguire Isaak helped the Warriors finish as state runners-up. Boutain averaged 12 points and 3.5 assists per game running point guard for a team that finished fourth in state. Gabi Isaak averaged a double-double with 16.2 points and 12.5 rebounds.
