Soap Lake cannot complete comeback against Pateros

PATEROS — Soap Lake nearly came back from a 9-2 deficit, falling to Pateros 11-10.

The Eagles surrendered seven runs in the first inning before starter Eryn Allen settled down and allowed just three runs over the next five innings.

The Nannies kicked the ball around some, committing eight errors. The defensive miscues allowed Soap Lake to chip away at Pateros’ lead.

Soap Lake scored five runs between the third and fifth inning and then added three more in the seventh to tie the game, 10-10.

Pateros was able to scratch a run across in the bottom of the seventh to win.

Allen pitched 6 2/3 innings and struck out 10. Allen also had one RBI. Karen Bausta led the Eagles with two RBI.
