3 injured in collision near Mattawa
MATTAWA — A man is facing a vehicular assault charge after he allegedly failed to yield at an intersection near Mattawa and caused an injury collision over the weekend.
About 2:05 a.m. Sunday morning Praxeis Perez Solis, 26, city of residence unknown, was driving a 2012 Kia Forte east on Road 26, about two miles south of Mattawa, when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign.
Perez Solis reportedly continued driving onto state Route 243 and struck a 2015 Chrysler 200 driven by Lucila Alejo Salazar, 43, of Desert Aire. The vehicles came to a rest blocking the intersection, according to the Washington State Patrol. Perez Solis, Alejo Salazar and her passenger, identified as Juan Cruz, 34, city of residence unknown, were injured in the collision and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment.
The patrol reports the cause of the collision was Perez Solis failing to yield the right of way. Investigators concluded alcohol and/or drugs were involved in the collision. Perez Solis is facing a charge of vehicular assault in connection with the crash.
