Paul McDermand to perform at Wallenstien Theatre April 10
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Paul McDermand will be bringing all of the exotic sounds and instruments of the islands to the mainland in a concert at Wallenstien Theatre on the campus of Big Bend Community College on Tuesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. For more information, check out http://communityconcertsml.com.
Paul McDermand’s illustrious career began as a 19-year old free-lance percussionist in the Chicago area. McDermand was soon picked up as a percussionist for a popular theatrical production playing in one of Chicago’s downtown theatres. That show was called The Magic Man, and starred a young David Copperfield. Since then, McDermand has gone on to work with some of the best in the business, racking up performance credits with the likes of Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, Liberace, The Temptations, and the Moody Blues. Throughout his career, McDermand experimented with all types of percussion instruments, but developed a particular interest in the more exotic instruments. His touring show, Exotic Instruments from the Mainland to the Islands, showcases his extensive collection of unique instruments, and features an eclectic repertoire ranging from tropical Baja to spicy Latin.
