Susan M. Smith, 59, of Ephrata passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was born on May 14, 1958 in Alhambra, Calif. to James C. and Verna L. (Dunkin) Irving.

She attended and graduated from Marysville High School in 1976. She attended Spokane Community College and Mt. Hood Community College where she graduated with a degree in Mortuary Science.

Following completion of mortuary school she returned to Ephrata where she worked alongside her dad at Nicoles Funeral Home until his passing in 1998 and then served as director until her retirement in 2011 from health-related issues.

Susan is survived by her husband, Jim Smith of Ephrata, children Amie Fortner (Bill) of Soap Lake and Eric Moulton of Moses Lake, step-children Heidi Burns (Brandon) of Ephrata and Greg Smith (Lisa) of Wenatchee, sister Janice Harmon-Niehenke (Mark) of Ephrata and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Verna Irving.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the United Methodist Church, 117 C St., Ephrata, Wash. with concluding services to follow at the Ephrata Cemetery.
