Kindness goes a long way with high school students
Last week in a protest against school violence, a Moses Lake High School student identified a cause that should be considered seriously, a cause seldom mentioned in the debates about gun control.
Angelica Mansfield, a sophomore, suggested these school shootings are often done by students who have been bullied and “cornered out” at school by other students. If their lives are difficult at home, she said, school shouldn’t mean more problems for them. Their associates at school could give some relief to these troubled students simply by being kind to them. (Columbia Basin Herald, March 15, 2018)
Angelica spoke out with conviction and love for her fellow students. I don’t know Angelica or her family, but her courage and perception are noteworthy.
