Volunteers sought for Solid Waste Advisory Committee
EPHRATA — The Grant County Board of Commissioners is currently looking for two local volunteers to serve on the county’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).
The committee is tasked to assist the county commissioners in developing programs and policies surrounding solid waste handling and disposal. Committee members review and comment on proposed rules, policies and ordinances before they are formally adopted. Committee members are expected to attend a “majority” of the board’s meeting, which are held quarterly at 2 p.m. in the Public Works facility in Ephrata.
“Participation primarily entails attending the meetings and reading material sent by the Public Works Department so that members can make informed opinions. There is no compensation for attending meetings,” reads a news release from the county commissioners.
Applications will be accepted until May 1 and can be accessed by visiting www.grantcountyweb.com and clicking on the “Important Announcements” tab. For more information contact Joan Sieverkropp at 509-754-4312 ext. 3508.
