Prep roundup: Moses Lake baseball stifled in loss to West Valley
YAKIMA — Moses Lake out-hit West Valley 6-5, but could not scratch out a run in its 4-0 loss.
The Rams plated all of their runs in the fourth inning.
Josh Williams finished 2-for-3 while Cody Goodwin, Evan McLean, Zach Valdez and Cody Alvarado had one hit apiece.
Starting pitcher Vance Alvarado went 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits. Ezekyel Ochoa came in to pitch 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
West Valley started Riley Lublin scattered five hits in six innings of work.
College Place 7-7, Warden 1-6
COLLEGE PLACE — Warden dropped a pair on the road to College Place 7-1 and 7-6.
“We just couldn’t get the bats going,” head coach Dan Caballero said.
The Cougars led the second game 6-1 entering the fourth inning before the Hawks began to chip away. College Place eventually took the lead for good in the sixth inning.
Tommy Pruneda had two RBI and Rodrigo Ozuna hit two doubles.
Cascade 14, Royal 7
LEAVENWORTH — Cascade overcame seven errors to beat Royal 14-7.
The Knights held a 2-1 lead before the Kodiaks struck for five runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning.
Softball
Warden 15-6, College Place 5-5
COLLEGE PLACE — Warden opened SCAC East play with a sweep of College Place 15-5 and 6-5.
Warden scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to blow open Game 1. Jizelle Pruneda struck out seven and had two hits of her own.
In a return from injury, Lexy Gonzalez was 4-for-4 with five RBI. Ashlyn Yamane and Leanne Martinez had three hits each.
Bailey Whitney homered and drove in three runs in Game 2.
Ephrata 10, Cascade 5
LEAVENWORTH — Ephrata built a 10-0 lead and defeated Cascade 10-5.
Jocelyn Eisen was 2-for-3 with a 3-run home run and five RBI. Kamryn Shannon added a 2-run home run in the fourth inning.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 15-18, Wilbur-Creston 0-0
HARTLINE — Almira/Coulee-Hartline routed Wilbur-Creston twice 15-0 and 18-0.
The Warriors scored 11 runs in the fifth inning of Game 1. Sarah Bradshaw had two hits and four RBI.
Makenna Oliver and Bradshawn combined to pitch a three-inning no-hitter in Game 2. Oliver and Bradshawn had three RBI each.

QUINCY — Quincy and Ephrata played serious defense in a 1-1 tie.
Luis Rodriguez scored within the first five minutes to the Tigers a 1-0 edge. Saul Buenrostro answered in the 10th minute for the Jacks.
From that point, it was all defense until the final whistle.
Eastmont 4, Moses Lake 3 (OT)
MOSES LAKE — Anthony Cortez scored twice, but Moses Lake fell to Eastmont in overtime 4-3.
Erik Shaporda was the other goal-scorer for the Chiefs.

Davis takes first league pod
YAKIMA — Cassie Kim shot 76 and Davis won the first Columbia Basin Big Nine pod with a score of 415 at Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima.
The Pirates finished comfortably ahead of second-place Wenatchee’s 425.
Moses Lake totaled 509 and was fifth.
Kim was the individual medalist. Payton Erdmann carded 106 for the Chiefs’ low score. Kerisa Sanislo (112), Kendall Sandhop (131) and Savannah Weston (160) rounded out Moses Lake’s lineup.
Ephrata’s Peters sets course record at Highlander
EAST WENATCHEE — Ephrata standout Kenedee Peters started her final prep season resoundingly, setting a record at Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee.
Ephrata won the 1A/2A division at the Wenatchee Valley Girls Golf Championships and Peters notched a minus-6 64 for the course record.
