Sharing the air

Cheryl Schweizer/Columbia Basin Herald Lawrence Schafer of the U.S. Department of Agriculture brought a juvenile red-tailed hawk to Friday’s presentation to pilot training students at Big Bend Community College. The hawk was trapped at Joint Base McChord near Tacoma, and it illustrated Schafer’s discussion of bird strikes and how to avoid them in flight.
