Torsten (Tor) H. Hartmann went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, after a short battle with cancer on Friday, March 9, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Tor was born June 22, 1952 to Wolf and Else Hartmann in Germany. His family immigrated to the United States when he was two years old, settling in Rochester, N.Y. Upon graduating from Victor High School, Tor became a naturalized citizen. He went on to graduate from Syracuse University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree of Science in Chemical Engineering. Tor also earned a Master’s Degree of Science in Information Systems from the University of West Virginia.

Tor served three active-duty years with the United States Marine Corps and served 18 years in the Marine Corp Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel. In his civilian career, Tor held a variety of technical and executive positions. He started as a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. He and his family then moved to Moses Lake, Wash., where Tor continued to work as a engineer and operations manager for Advanced Silicon Materials Incorporated. He worked for ASiMI for many years, becoming vice president and president. Tor also was the chief operating officer for Solar Grade Silicon, senior vice president for REC and the founder and managing partner of Core Business Developers.

Tor is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Patricia Sanders of Wewoka, Okla; two children Brandon Hartmann (Nichole) and Tori Hartmann (William) and two grandsons Niels and Calvin.
