MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake boys soccer is still finding its footing, so to speak.

The Chiefs lost two games to Greater Spokane League opponents Gonzaga Prep and Ferris. The Bullpups and Saxons both won 2-0.

Moses Lake struggled to mount an attack against the rangy Ferris defense, with its best chance coming on a free kick in the third minute. Forward Anthony Cortez’s offering was deflected by the Saxons’ wall and saved in front of the goal.

Alessandro Contos scored in the ninth minute. Ferris protected its lead throughout the game before adding another goal in the 47th minute.

Moses Lake plays its last non-league game Tuesday, 7 p.m., against Lewis and Clark.

Royal 1, Quincy 1

ROYAL CITY — Royal scored late in the second half to salvage a 1-1 with Class 2A Quincy.

Eventually, Alex Delgado played a cross to Juan Ojeda who scored the equalizer.

Othello 2, Naches Valley 1

NACHES — Juan Tapia scored in the 70th minute to break a 1-1 tie and send Othello to a 2-1 win over Naches Valley in its season-opener.
