The power of prayer extends to our schools
Across the nation we have a common problem. A student writes a letter or writes on a wall and the schools go into lockdown. Students come to school carrying guns. This a problem but it’s much bigger than that. We can acknowledge him or deny him but the one that has been set free on this earth wants to kill, steal and destroy what is good and true. He has many names; most know him as “Satan.”
Why is this is happening? Some say that it is because prayer has been taken out of the schools. This is a lie from Satan, the one that is killing our children. Children, teachers, kitchen staff, paras and volunteers can pray in the schools at any time if they wish. No one can stop this. We pray with our hearts and God hears us. A prayer does not have to be out loud for all to hear or to cause disruption. The Bible tells me the power of prayer can move mountains if you just have the faith of a mustard seed.
Friends, we have a big mountain that needs to be taken down in our city. Satan is trying to distract us from the real problem in our schools. In our city some are fighting against the school board on decisions that are being considered. I suggest we lift them up in prayer and pray that God’s will be done.
We don’t need more armed guards and guns on our school grounds to protect our children. We need more people to stand up and get involved with our schools. We should take ownership in our schools and be a part of what goes on in them daily if they are truly our schools.
We as parents, grandparents and citizens have a right to be at the schools volunteering. Yes, we need to follow all the school’s rules, dos and don’ts, have the proper background checks and comply with school administration requirements. The best way to know what happens at a school is to be there and be a part of what is going on.
We as Christians have even more responsibility. We know God is our protector and we need to go to him with prayers for our schools and our city. We are to be the light when all else is dark. Many churches have already started adopting schools to help with the needs of the children and staff. I suggest as Christ followers we pray for the school administration, for the school board, for the teachers and for our city.
