April 28, 1946 – February 19, 2018

Marie “Gram” Morgan – mother, grandmother, friend and collector of anything owl – passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 in Wenatchee, Wash. at Central Washington Hospital. She was 71 years old. Marie was born in San Francisco, Calif. on April 28, 1946, to Rudolph and Hilde Spies, who wanted nothing more than for her to be happy and flourish in life.

Marie once described her best accomplishment as becoming a mother, although she made broccoli cheese soup that was a close second. A trying and often even a stubborn woman, two things she never lacked were affection or the uncanny knack to make a meal out of nothing. Her daughters Victoria, Robyn and Jennifer all remember their mother as the one who encouraged them to never give up without a fight and fight for what you believe in.

Marie was very good with her hands. She was often seen working on some type of crocheting project or on a new recipe that she had found that would be offered up at the next family get-together. Visiting grandchildren would get one-on-one tutorials on how to be the best cook and what not to do in the kitchen. She wanted to see her grandchildren grow up and be independent. She has taught most of them to sew, crochet, follow recipes, bake, et cetera. Marie has been nothing if not a pillar of pure knowledge for the future generation.

Marie will be remembered for her wit, generosity, spirit, amazing hugs, friendship, unconditional love and amazing ability to make you feel wanted, as well as her habit of having the best-decorated house in October for Halloween, which happened to be a trait passed to her daughters. She loved road trips and hotel stays, but most of all she loved her family.

A Celebration of Life will be held by the family on Saturday, March 10, 2018, from 2-5 p.m. at Endeavor Middle School, 6527 Patton Blvd. NE Moses Lake, Wash. All are invited to attend and share their memories and tears. Flowers and condolences may be sent to 408 Biggs Dr., Moses Lake, WA 98837.
